download red hat 7.3 and burn onto cd-r disc. with the red hat 7.2 computer, insert the disc 1, and boot from the cd rom, during the begining of the system install, click on upgrade, it will upgrade i believe 493 files , ending result, computer with red hat 7.3
you can use teh rpm's fine, just be very aware that if you attempt to do some manual upgrades, you will most likely run into a LOT of dependencies that you will have to sort out yourself.
For the upgrade, are you sure that the 1/3 cd is enough and do I have to play with the partitions or does it automaticly upgrade the 7.2? I mean do I need to choose the partitions where it installs it or is just so simple that I download the disc one - boot from it and click the upgrade and then next..?
but you don't need to reinstall the entire OS if you only want to update some programs, just make sure that you have all the up to date libraries that are relevant to the programs you are upgrading and so on so that you don't get stuck on the neverending dependency wheel.
