I'm running LMDE with Cinnamon desktop, and I connected to a Bose Sound Wear BT speaker. For some reason it won't connect today, I thought it was the old Bose problem, but I tested with my cell phone and it connected in no time, so what's wrong with the bluetooth and how do I reset it ?
My answer, don't know whether good or not, but I would just reinstall the OS, or restore an earlier snapshot. However, I'm getting better and may someday have another solution to the problem. But that would be my first instinct.

no, reinstalling an OS instead of configuring BT is just an overkill. Much better to read the documentation, check log files and troubleshoot.

I just learned that it was my Thinkpad problem ! the BT on and off connects to the headset but gives no sound, I tried with other phone and speaker to confirm that, quite uncommon. I tried with a Logitech BT dongle but the same does not recognize it, then I boot other distro and get the same result, I bought the TB some 10yrs. ago its about time to fail.
Oh! So it's too old... That happens sometimes. I have cameras (or had, can't remember which). They need to go from me now. They're way too old now. Probably can't use them on linux or anything...
After repeated testing I found the problem more complicated and strange. I tested with another BT speaker and an earbud both can connect to my Thinkpad and produced sound, on the other hand my Bose SoundWear works with my phone too, so what's the problem !? I remember when the Bose was working I can see it connected to 2-3 devices, namely Bose SoundWear, LE-Bose SoundWear, and one I can't recall exactly was "David" something, yes there are multiple name for the Bose, now I can only see the first two. I reset the SoundWear to clear all connection memory but it still won't connect to the PC, very weird, that happened suddenly.
I installed the Android App "Bose Connect" to see what I can do with it, and found that I can rename the set. I received the set used as gift, and now I know the previous user renamed it as "David", but I still can't connect it to my Thinkpad, and I don't see how I can update the firmware, I'm still digging. This set is very good sounding I hope I can fix the connection problem, wonder if anyone has experience with it and can help, thanks !
After few more days of use the problem fixed by itself ! I get back sound from on the set, there were few updates during the time, but none related to bluetooth, may be there's something affected the connectivity I don't know, very strange !
