Question How to dock glipper clipboard manager in fluxbox

I'm using the current fluxbox with ubuntu 10.04.
I am unable to find a way to get glipper to dock in the
fluxbox toolbar. I have used klipper (the KDE clipboard manager)
in the past and all I needed to do was to run "klipper" from
the run dialogue and it docked.
Also, I have placed the following :
Code:
python /usr/lib/glipper/glipper &
in ~/.fluxbox/startup, but that
hasn't helped either.
I'd just prefer to use glipper and not switch to klipper, so
I'd like to see glipper on the toolbar.
Note: I am starting fluxbox with the log option and I do not
see any problems from the log file.
thanks
tim

There might be a terminology issue here.

When Fluxbox users talk about "docking" a program, they refer to docking it in the "slit," not on the toolbar. The dock is something peculiar to Blackbox and window managers based on Blackbox.

I run GKrellM in the slit with this command in startup: gkrellm -w &

You can see a screenshot of GKrellM running the slit on my old Slackware Fluxbox desktop here.

You could try

python /usr/lib/glipper/glipper -w &

and see whether it works.

See the Fluxbox wiki for more.

Thumbs up

Hi frankbell:
Thank you for clarifying the terminology. I did as you instructed without
the -w switch. Maybe that was the problem. I switched to parcellite
and put parcellite & in my startup file. It installs on the
toolbar just fine (so far). I have also used klipper with no problem.
Thanks for the reply.
cheers
tim

Is this a good forum to ask other questions about fluxbox?
If not - any recommendations?
I have the wiki bookmarked and no immediate need right now,
but just in case ...
thanks
