We stand on the shoulders of giants!

I was fascinated to learn why it is called a mouse. When I first started using a GUI, I was told a different story, namely that it's about the size of a mouse and has a long tail. Of course there were no wireless mice then.

And I was under the impression it all emanated from PARC.

1968 - wow, a couple of years before I even started with programming in high school ...

The first GUI was developed by PARC in 1973. Xerox did not see the computer as a consumer product at the time and basically gave the design to Apple.

They realized their mistake about 10 years later and the rest is history...

Xerox really did have a modern design.

I see the problem in that photo in link. He doesn't have a table to work on so maybe that is why the mouse deal fell thru?
