VCD Ripping / cdfs broken with new kernel
With the 2.6.9-1.667 kernel that came with Fedora Core 3 I was able to compile and install the cdfs kernel module and it worked beautifully with both my IDE DVD reader and my SCSI CD writer. I used them both as readers and was able to mount my VCDs using "mount -t cdfs -o ro ..."
"insmod cdfs.ko"
"mount -t cdfs -o ro /dev/hdc /mnt/cdfs"
"mount -t cdfs -o ro /dev/scd0 /mnt/cdfs2"
...all worked with no problems.
So cdfs worked beautifully and I was about to pull the mpegs out of the VCDs.
But the 2.6.9 kernel had a problem with cdrecorder in seeing my SCSI CD writer so I was forced to up2date my kernel to get xcdroast and cdrecorder to see my SCSI CD writer. Upgrading the kernel to 2.6.11-1.14_FC3 fixed that.
But under the 2.6.11-1.14_FC3 kernel cdfs locks my system up as soon as I try to mount a VCD in my IDE DVD reader.
"insmod cdfs.ko"
"mount -t cdfs -o ro /dev/hdc /mnt/cdfs" causes my system to completely hang/lockup/crash.
However if I try my SCSI cd writer it works without locking my system.
"mount -t cdfs -o ro /dev/scd0 /mnt/cdfs2" works with no problems.
Anyone know how to fix this problem. I want cdfs to work with both drives so I can pull and encode parts 1 and parts 2 of a VCD at the same time. So I need both drives to work.
