has anyone successfully installed ATI driver on FC5?
I wanna know whether it works well. I am now using the VESA driver for my ATI Radeon Xpress 200 M on my ThinkPad R51e-2XC. I don't wanna make my Xwindow can't work after installed the driver.
I've had *loads* of problems with my ATI Radeon Xpress 200M (on Fedora Core 5 64bit).
When I install the driver (I've tried both the livna drivers and the shell installer from the ATI website) after I reboot, after the daemons have loaded, instead of the graphical login manager appearing, the screen just goes black.
Is this your experience?
I've submitted a ticket to the ATI website, and if I ever manage to get the driver to work I'll report back.
I remember reading somewhere that if you use the ATI drivers from the livna repos AND the ati drivers from ati's website, it screws your installation up. One of the drivers replaces files somewhere in FC5 and it goes beserk. Am I wrong here?
I am new to this forum I have had a strange experience with installing ATI drivers in FC5 I have to say i finally succeeded but with a lot of flaws lol. I actually downloaded the driver from the ATI Website and installed in on FC5 i386 and when i ran fglrxinfo it said mesa3D and i thought i did something wrong uninstalled everything and reinstalled it from Livna. Again it said mesa3D. so i decided to change my linux and check i tried to start off with gentoo did go anywhere came back to FC5. Suddenly my fglrxinfo showed ATI Propreitary lol. I was happy for a while and after a few days i restarted my machine and it went back to mesa3D on my fglrxinfo. Every time i run my Gentoo Live CD 2006.1 my fglrxinfo in FC5 shows ATI propreitary i dont see any relationship here at all but still thats what is exactly happening to me. whenever my fglrxinfo shows mesa3D I have to boot once with my Gentoo Linux and reboot on FC5 and i get ATI Propreitary. Can some one help me with what is happening here.
