Fedora Core 2 volume control problem

Hi! I posted this message on the software group but got no replies. I installed fedora core 2 without any problem. I downloaded the mp3 plugin so that XMMS can work just fine. The problem I have is that when I increase the volume using the volume control icon, as soon as I move the mouse pointer the volume starts decreasing until it reaches its minimum. Any thoughts? Thank you!

I don't know if this is the "problem" but....

XMMS has this handy little volume control, where you can actually decrease the volume just by scrolling your mouse wheel. This could be your "problem." (note: I think it should only work when your cursor is over XMMS???).

There is a link on that page to a gnome-applets rpm. I downloaded that rpm and did an rpm -Uvh on the file and now my volume control works.

I'm not sure why you would have problems. I didn't have any conflicts. What was the output when you tried to rpm -Uvh the gnome-applets rpm?

Your welcome. Also, for future reference there are also the -Fvh options to rpm. With -Uvh rpm will look for a previous version of an rpm and if there is one it upgrades it. If there is not a previous version it installs the rpm. With -Fvh it will only do an upgrade of an rpm. If it isn't already installed rpm does nothing.
