Mouse Problems with Conectiva 9

All of following mice I have tried do not have the scroll wheel working with Conectiva 9: Logitech Optical, MS Intellimouse, and two generic.
I tried them with a 333 Celeron, a 900 Duron and a 1.2 Athlon. I sent in a report to Buzilla and the response was that Conectiva tried it with 3 other mice and had no preblems. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Any solutions to share with an almost newbie?

Hi,

What protocol are you using? The generic mouses should work with IMPS/2, with an option in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4:

Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"

In addition to your instructions I also removed "emulate 3rd button" and it works perfectly. I read a review on Conectiva that expressed the opinion that it is very under-rated. I very much agree. This is one very beautiful, powerful and fast linux.
