Help installing PlayOnLinux

Hi there... I'm trying to install PlayOnLinux but having some issues.

I open the BODHI SOFTWARE CENTER and go to games and then go to PlayOnLinux and hit install and everything seems to work.

But not icon is added to the menus.

I can run the app from Terminal, but it seems like there is a lot of errors, as it can not find paths and stuff.

I tried to install steam from the list... as a test, but it errored saying it couldn't install wine.

Any ideas on how to get this running?

i don't use playonlinux, but it might be helpful to get the actual error message given when you try to install steam.

lots of programs show path errors when i try to run them from the terminal. hopefully those are superfluous for now.

in case your final goal was to install steam instead of playonlinux, it looks like it can be installed on its own: https://itsfoss.com/install-steam-ubuntu-linux/

All playonlinux does is install an instance of wine for each game. It takes more room but works pretty well because normally the versions of wine installed are compatible with whatever software/game you are installing. Having said that, I have never had much luck with PlayOnLinux - it always seems to hang when installing a game. The times I have gamed on Linux, I have just installed wine and ran games directly using wine. I always do this from a terminal though: I used to have functions in my .bashrc that ran each game. The problem with this approach is that not all games are compatible with the latest version of wine.

Perhaps googling each error message you get when starting PlayOnLinux from a terminal would be helpful.

I've also never played with playonlinux. It is listed in the bodhi apppack tho so to me that implies it should work as expected....

But yeah if you want steam try the linux verison.
Code:
sudo apt install steam-installer
that'll put the installer in your menu.
