An insecurity complex...

Posted 07-05-2009 at 02:25 AM by Shingoshi

Why is it that so many websites (some hosted for open-source projects), refuse members to use strong passwords? By definition, any password which has nonalphanumeric characters, is more secure than those which don't.

So I find it particularly odd, that systems touting security, are themselves insecure for their primary audience. It's not like the software doesn't exist to allow maximum security for the creation of passwords. So what's the motivation for not implementing that security...

This is an incontrovertible fact!

This is an incontrovertible fact!
The principle:
You will never save more by acquiring less than you can afford.

Context:
Every transaction is an expense of time and energy.
The expenditure of all energy is a function of time.
Energy is time. Once you've spent it, you don't get it back
You can steal from a person, but not from time.
In every situation we must ask ourselves, "are we committed to succeed, or committed to fail.

I don't know what to make of it...

Posted 07-03-2009 at 02:49 AM by Shingoshi

But I've been a bit surprised by what seems to be the number of people who have clicked on my first (original) two posts. Mind you, I don't know how many are actually reading them. But even though I wrote them first, the amount of clicks that separates them from the rest seems significant. I am kind of disappointed though, that no one (except psychicist) has answer my threads. I was expecting to get a lot of criticism. But instead, I've gotten nothing. I guess that's ok. I just wouldn't mind having...

And a measure of Wine to all...

Posted 06-29-2009 at 03:20 PM by Shingoshi

I'm going to raise the stakes here. What I'm about to say may rile some of you. But I really think it needs to be said, and attention given to this.

I believe it is counterproductive for the open-source community to become complacent in the imagination applied to the vision of what direction we should take with development. Given the fact that open-source software is under direct attack by proprietary systems (one in particular), I firmly believe emphasis needs to be given to counter...

A History of Insanity!

Posted 06-28-2009 at 06:30 PM by Shingoshi

I'm going to list a few links showing two of my projects. One of them is completed. The second is just in the beginning stages.

This is the project in which I installed my first liquid-cooled system. You'll notice in this project I had special interest in reaching the coldest temperatures possible. I had been doing research into the use of hybrid systems, combining phase-change and heat-transfer fluid designs. These designs are now being reconsidered in my second project.
