QGIS and GDAL SlackBuilds, again

Posted 08-03-2010 at 06:04 AM by 55020

Quantum GIS (QGIS) has a new version 1.5.0, and so I've now submitted a revised SlackBuild to SlackBuilds.org. It should show up some time in the next week or two.

Note that there is a new dependency. You need to install QWT (yes, SBo has a SlackBuild for that) before building the new version of QGIS. Well, you don't absolutely have to have QWT, but if you don't have QWT there will be reduced functionality in QGIS - for example, the new Live GPS Tracking will be missing.

I've also submitted a revised SlackBuild for GDAL version 1.7.2. It looks like QGIS 1.5.0 has solved the issue noted in my previous blog entry. The new version of GDAL has some useful new conversions to/from DWG format. Also, the new SlackBuild for GDAL enables Python bindings which are required by one of the new plugins in QGIS 1.5.0.

So, to sum up, you will need to do this --

(1) Build and install QWT, if you haven't already got it.

(2) Build and install GDAL 1.7.2

(3) Build and install QGIS 1.5.0

You will be disappointed if you don't build and install those versions in that order ;-)
