Trap invalid opcode id : ....

Hi - I've just upgrade my 2 Thinkpads to the latest Slackware current - and that specifically means the new 6.9.0 kernel. And all of a sudden programs are falling over left right and centre. They end up in the kernel log as "Trap invalid opcode id ....". If I recall, a new kernel firmware image was also upgraded. Pretty sure one of these is causing the problem. Anyone else seeing this ?

EDIT : solved by adding 'mitigations=off' on the kernel command line at boot

it's probably related to new GCC and it's not just affecting you, many others are also affected

Ouch ... Thank you very much Willy - for that news. I'm sure we'll see a fix arriving soon :-)
