Slackware64 - CURRENT

Hi together,
I run Slackware64-CURRENT (also Multilib)
System:
Kernel: 6.6.28 arch: x86_64 bits: 64
Desktop: KDE Plasma v: 5.27.11 Distro: Slackware 15.0
NVIDIA (propretary) 550.54.14

I've tried a lot of times to install the last upgrade with Kernel 6.9.1, without success.
I'm not able to rebuild the Nvidia-Modules (File nvidia550.54.14.run https://www.nvidia.com/download/driv.../218826/en-us/), after the installing of the new upgrade.
What I've done after the upgrade SLACKPKG UPGRADE-ALL (as after each Kernel-Upgrade):
1. /usr/share/mkinitrd/mkinitrd_command_generator.sh -k 6.9.1
2. eliloconfig
3. Reboot
4. Re-Run nvidia550.54.14.run (I was before over a few months under NVIDIA 535.113.01)
Result: installation breaks during the rebuild of the NVIDIA-modules.

I also tried:
1. to uninstall the proprietary driver
2. to install xf86-video-nouveau-blacklist
3. to install libvdpau-compat32-1.5 and libvdpau-1.5
4. to install nvidia-driver and nvidia-kernel over SLACBUILD.
5. Result: install vas OK, but after STARTX there was no Display-Manager, and the start aborted.

Each time back to Kernel 6.6.28 over Timeshift.

Maybe any idea from more experienced forum participants.
Thanks a lot.

i dont think the -current multilib gcc packages have been updated. having a different gcc than the kernel was built with has broken things. i also have a problem building modules on a multilib -current system

presently i see gcc 13.2.0 in the current multilib repo and the kernel 6.9.1 was built with 14.X

There are error messages in /var/log/nvidia-installer.log. What does the first error message say?

[jkh2cpu]:

To do that, I have to reinstall again all the updates. I will try to do it.

According to this forum post https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...rs-4175737070/ (last entry from Geremia) the nvidia-drm module is the issue. For the nvidia-installer use --no-drm to disable it.

You could also try a more recent version if that is an option.

[marrowsuck]

Thanks a lot.
NVIDIa.RUN --no-drm has solved my problem. I have also installed the NVIDIA-driver 550.78
