I don't think my video card (chip) is in there. I might be wrong but when I word searched for a combination of theses words it came up blank

There is an issue with the kernel-firmware package. Fallback to the previous version for now. See this thread:

https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...ml#post6439063

Hope that helps.

Just revert to the penultimate kernel-firmware package:

wget https://slackware.uk/cumulative/slackware64-current/slackware64/a/kernel-firmware-20230620_045b213-noarch-1.txz

(as root) upgradepkg ~/kernel-firmware-20230620_045b213-noarch-1.txz

Are you running current or 15.0? Mixing 15.0 & current files will cause more problems. Use the wget command from the CLI as kgha posted and upgrade or remove/install the previous kernel-firmware package.

I got 1 laptop, 4 OSes, 2 of them are current and slack 15. I am in slack 15 right now so I can have a GUI and read the web browser and use the terminal easier. so it is possible to chroot into current off of slack 15

I am not sure if I have wifi on current I have not check to see, so let me go phone and boot current and try that for now. I just need to figure out kernel version to get

cool glade I seen this post, so I can get it in 15 then boot to current and install it, and hope it just works. but I remember my sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
gave me a command not found in current, but I can work around that by booting back in to 15 then update grub then boot back into current to see if the new kernel worked or not.

Kernel versions and kernel-firmware are managed independently. You don't need to change the kernel version to fallback to the previous kernel-firmware.
