In all honestly, it probably wouldn't be too difficult to port over updates from "Pale Moon" (meaning from the UXP platform) to basilisk in the future. They do in fact build from the same platform... they are just according to UXP (platform) terms, different "applications". However, when you take a look at how much code the "application" makes up, its actually very little. Its not too likely that one would find many if any real vectors for exploitation of the actual "application" code. This is just my opinion / assessment. I'm not actually qualified to say for certain.

I might take a whack at providing patches ported from newer UXP updates and apply them to Basilisk if people are actually interested. However, I might be tempted, in that case, to provide alternative branding. I'm not much of graphics person, so if that was to be the case I would need help from someone who can do some good graphics. The branding is rather simple, and anyone half decent with gimp (etc) could easily do the job.

Any updates on the Basilisk Slackbuild? I've released multiple releases of Basilisk since the version in the Slackbuild.

Thanks!

FWIW: Just edited the old SBo script to update the version number and Basilisk built and is running perfectly.

Posting from basilisk-bin-20221104201835-x86_64-1_SBo_kjh ( this is the latest download on the Download Basilisk Site ).

Seems to run great !

Q: Did you install the pre-compiled binary 'latest download' or v2022-11-04 or did you build from source ?

Thanks !

-- kjh

P.S. runs very clean too. From a Konsole:
Code:
[konrad@kjhlt7 .moonchild productions]$ basilisk-bin &
[1] 7007
[konrad@kjhlt7 .moonchild productions]$ WebGL(0x7f32de4ec800)::ForceLoseContext

[1]+  Done                    basilisk-bin
[konrad@kjhlt7 .moonchild productions]$

Went over to whatismybrowser.com with Basilisk and noticed it reveals my local IP address.

None of the other browsers I use do that.

It's the WebRTC API
In FF, it's disabled by:

media.peerconnection.enabled = false

Basilisk-v2023.01.26 has been released.
Quote:
v2023.01.26 Published 2023-01-26
This is a new milestone release.
Primary focus for this milestone is web compatibility, in particular Regular Expression extensions, standards compliance issues and further JPEG-XL support.
This milestone now offers full coverage of the ECMAScript 2016-2020 JavaScript specifications, with the exception of BigInt primitives.
Special thanks to Martok, Job Bautista and FranklinDM without whom this milestone would not have been possible.......
The full announcement can be found at, https://www.basilisk-browser.org/releasenotes.shtml
