I installed XnView, how do I run it?

I installed it with Debian 3.1. Just did "aptitude install xnview"

Running xnview from the command line didn't work. I could find xnview anywhere.

I'm running IceWM, I can't find it in any of the menus.

How do run it?

Not all applications make entries in the menus for you. I have not used IceVM very much. You can run almost any application from the command line by typing the name of the binary, or a script that may have been supplied. Scripts are some what like batch files, but can do a lot more.

I had a look at the web site for XnView. Here is the link if you have not found it. http://www.xnview.com/

My guess is the binary files would have gone to /usr/bin. Open a console and look there. If you do not find them, look for a "find" type application in your menu system. Almost all distros have one. Have a look with that. Failing that, as root, run the command slocate -u. That will build a data base of all files on your system It will take some time to complete. Once done, try the command locate xnview. Don't forget linux is case sensitive. Try upper case and mixed cases.

Hope this helps.

it will be easier for you to install its RPM from the site and install it by typing : rpm -Uvh filename.rpm

to install the file that you have downloaded just type : ./install

I use SuSE and it's in my usr/X11R6/bin. It's a nice app but honestly I prefer gqview.
