Hi
I'm currently trying to set up software RAID-1 on Mandrake with an existing ReiserFS partition. The
chapter 7.2 of the Software-RAID-HOWTO clearly states that :

the kernel must support autodetection
(OK)
the raid device must be configured to use persistent-superblock
(done)
the partition needs to be of 0xfd type
(done)
Well... this gives me error messages at every boot...
Anyway, I don't want to bore anyone with my error messages (I'll ask in another thread if I need), I would just be happy if the following 3 questions were answered :
1/ What is this 0xfd "linux autodetect" type ? Should I still mount the /dev/md0 RAID device using the original reiserfs type ? What entry should I put in my /etc/fstab ?
2/ The error messages tell me that I should run reiserfsck to correct this partition (the master one). But, since I don't expect RAID to change anything on this partition, I suspect either the 0xfd change or the use of persistent-superblock to cause this error ; am I wrong ?
3/ Finally and to be clear : is a partition subject to any change when replicated to another disk it using RAID-1 ?.
Note that the partition involved is my
/home and has nothing to do with the boot sequence, so I don't need it to be mounted at boot time.
thanks if anybody can help my damaged brain to understand this stuff...
