And even those aren't unlimited... Mind you, if you request more then 1 *buntu CD, you'll probably only get one anyway.

Does it matter how many people switch over to Debian?

It may be just a stupid phobia, but having millions of non-programming, internet banking naive people converting to Linux, may open the doors for a flood of evil doers exploiting the security vulnerabilities of the system.

Oh oh, and linux would be the most vulnerable !
Did you already download out of sourceforge ?

Freshmeat can also introduce viruses

My best guess is that internet evil doers target windows because most of the computer users are on it. If more people start using Linux, it would become a major target as well.

I think the open source revolution should be limited to open data formats, i.e. among the regular non-programming users.

As for the programmers, real men do use *nix. (Or *BSD)

Smile

I suppose it's true to say that all those 'buntu users are in fact using Debian. Even if Mr Shuttleworth and Canonical try to ignore/obfuscate the fact (naughty me!).
I seriously doubt ciden's "millions of non-programming, internet banking naive people" will convert to using Debian. It doesn't really need "publicity". Just deserved acknowledgement and something back from the Distro's that use it as their base.
You can already get Debian "goodies" online anyway. Or you can make your own T-shirts, stickers etc in the spirit of FOSS.
