Getting serious with PostgreSQL

Ok, so the company I work for has set a hard date for the release/launch of our new flagship product...June 1st.

This is interesting for a number of reasons. First, the 5.0 project has been in "under heavy development" status for a seriously long time now (late 2007 I joined the 5.0 team, which at that time was roughly 20% done. I later moved from that team to the reporting division, spent a year there and then moved to my current role as DBA). I figured the 5.0 project...

You may all! Call me a total Dummy. no prob!Did I remember to put in a wireless card in my desktop! Nope!But I did remember taking it out some time ago!The wireless router does not pick up, but a card should!!But Later! Have to pay the rent on caravan storage and then! Try to avoid being dragged around the shops!But I ditched Unbuntu! Later I will pop in to the local newsagents and grab a few linux mags. Play with the laptop and see how things go!

Network configuration problems

Just in case somebody has network configuration problems. I wrote a script which analyzes the existing network config for common config errors and creates a log of a lot network config details of your system. This log is very helpful for everybody who tries to solve network problems.

GMaps API tile server

So, I've been messing around with the GMaps API, trying to create my custom map type. It took me a lot of time, so I decided to share the code I ended up with.
This script serves content to the Google Maps API. It divides each requested tile into 8x8=64 squares and for each one displays the highest-rated picture that belongs to it.
