KnoppMyth R5E50 and AverTV DVB-T 777 and Digital Out

I upgrade MythTV and had problems with my tuners being detected as "V-Stream Studio TV Terminator".
This blog entry details what's happening and I was able to fix it.

The changes are good for the most part - DVD playback is ok, though a bit squashed. decss is needed, linkage is here.
I lost SPDIF Optical out, but got it back with these details.

OpenSlug NAS

I recently got myself one of these.
I flashed it with OpenSlug 3.10, and I'm doing the following with it:

Sharing a 250 GB drive with samba.

Sharing a printer (Samsung ML-1740) with cups

Torrent box with transmission and dtach

NTP server with the listen option in the OpenNTPD configuration file.

I want to change the torrent software to rtorrent, but there's a few problems with it on the Slug. The solution to the first problem doesn't work for me, and I'm using ext3.

Removing commercial flags from MythTV Recordings

I found out that commflag doesn't remove the cut lists (they were still present in the database, available with "c" in the edit facility), so after some hunting around I found this page.
I have since turned off commercial flagging because I found it doesn't catch them all (Knoppmyth R5D1).

Rip CD to FLAC, then convert FLAC to Ogg Vorbis

Assuming you want a FLAC copy, of course.
Use any good ripper app to extract to FLAC.
I'm currently using Sound Juicer, but under OpenSuSE I was using another one from the Gnome suite (called something like XCDRipper, which was more configurable than Sound Juicer).
Then, I found a script to convert to MP3, which I modified.
It doesn't like spaces in the filenames.

That thread also talks about cd2ogg, which has been very handy.

Don't disable USB in the ASUS A8V Deluxe mobo.

If you do, you get this:

"USB Device Over Current Status Detected
System Will Shut Down After 15 Seconds"

and it shuts down the machine - you can't get back into the BIOS.

I had to remove the CMOS battery and pull the power, then I was back to defaults.

What a braindead setting.
