How to power down RP4/8GB board when it is shut down?

When we shutdown RP4/8GB board, the red LED power indicator on the board will be still lit until we switch off power to the board.

Now, next time, I need to switch off and then switch on power to boot the board.

Is there any way to avoid this inconvenience?

Is there any way to hard reset the board?

Surely,
Code:
 [sudo] shutdown -r now
or in a box with systemd
Code:
 [sudo] systemctl reboot
One or the other should give you a reset (=reboot).
But if you want to turn off the power led electronically without using the power switch, dream on. You have to physically switch power. Now, you could set up a pi to switch the power on all your other Pis, but let's not go there.

Power LED - In a nutshell, no. The red LED will stay illuminated as long as there is power to the RPi. I use a power cable with an in-line on/off button on the RPi4 so it's easy to just kill the power supplied to the device when I've shut down the system. Most ARM devices by design have an LED to show when the power is connected, whether the operating system is running or not. It's not the same way as most PCs work where the LEDs only light up when it's booting/running the OS.

Hard reset - if what you mean is to reboot, or power on/off, the device with the push of a button (which is not a hard reset) then using a power cable with an in-line on/off button is your safest and easiest solution. Or pull out the power cable and reconnect it - if you are that close to the device that pressing a button would be just as effortless.

That's not a hard reset, that's a reboot. Reminder that Slackware does not use 'systemd', but employs UNIX's and Linux's traditional 'sysvinit' which is based on runlevels! There's no reason to even mention systemd. The Slackware philosophy is to "Keep It Simple Stupid".

As well as 'shutdown -r' you can also use the following to reboot the Slackware system:

Code:
~# reboot
~# halt -r
~# init 6
~# echo 'b' > /proc/sysrq-trigger
