Hi, you should be able to get php5.2.9 from Mandriva 2009.1 install disks, or the repo.

http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/

Select Version (2009.1) and then follow the directions of that page.

Task-lamp may be the meta package you need.

Quote:
task-lamp - Metapackage for the Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP and Perl server

This package is a meta-package, meaning that its purpose is to contain dependencies for running LAMP-server, allowing easy installation of a comprehensive LAMP testing/development setup. For a production server, you may prefer to install a subset of the dependencies.
Quote:
task-lamp-extras - Metapackage for the Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP/Perl/Python extras This package is a meta-package, meaning that its purpose is to add additional packages for a LAMP setup that are not strictly required, but are often provided in other similar bundles. These extra packages are usually a convenience, and not recommended for use on production servers without securing them.
You should be able to remove the 5.3 ver of php with

Code:
urpme php -a
All the best, Glenn

what i actually had to do was:

sudo urpme task-lamp-php
sudo urpmi --auto-orphans

and then urpmi task-lamp-php with the new repo's.

of course, i dd'ed my partition before starting on this journey, and i'll update here if my computer melts or anything.

anyway, the problem now is how am i going to urpmi --auto-update? do i just set the system to fetch from all repo's or do i just not auto-update?

You can use the skip.list in /etc/urpmi/

/etc/urpmi/skip.list
Code:
# Here you can specify the packages that won't be upgraded automatically
# for example, to exclude all apache packages :
# /^apache/
/^x11-driver-video-nvidia-current/
/^nvidia-current-kernel/
/^dkms-nvidia-current/
/^kaffeine/
/^amarok/
/^kernel/
/^drakx-installer*/
/^smart-gui*/
/^smart*/
for example...
you need root access to save this file!

But you can still upgrade them with a different tool, like smart and rpm (cli)

smart has a version padlock instead to exclude packages.
