hi, i run it on windows, but even then you need to manually update it to get it to work online.
try the newest one here http://www.ea.com/official/cc/generals/us/demos.jsp although i found 1.04 patch, which is what i use. I could never get the updated to download/install automatically, but once i installed them manually it worked.

Good luck, with wine tho

i've managed to get Battlefield 2 working in cedega online, i don't know why cnc generals won't. Battlefield 2 just boots from the cd nicely and plays like it should play, where as CnC generals won't even boot into the game from the cd unless i use a nocd patch, which stops you from playing online anyways:s I miss CnC but i refuse to use windows, even for games.
must be a solution somewhere

according to wine and cedega cnc generals does not work online as of yet, so looks like its hopeless
i don't know why they make it so games like Battlefield 2 work perfect online without any problems yet they can't make cnc generals work online.
C'mon Cedega, fix CnC generals!!
