To log in to a raspberry pi from debian on the LAN when you are sick of forgetting the ip address of the pi.

ssh rpi00.local -l pi

you need these:

on both raspbian and debian (both wheezy)

and possibly

aptitude install libnss-mdns

on debian

Simpler as wheezy approaches stable.

Install Wheezy with LXDE and ssh server

Enable contrib and non-free

Follow the entry to get the machine onto the skolelinux nw.
