Setting up firewall in Zorin lite

Hello everyone I am TLD6008 and a newbie to Linux Ubuntu Zorin and everthing else not Windows related. I have been using Zorin lite for appox 2 weeks and use a VPN service with OpenVPN when on the internet. I have been trying to get the firewall to disconnect if the VPN connection fails and have myself failed in my attempts. There is one discription on how to do the on the web (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1496473) it was authored in 2010 but I can't get it to work so here I am posing my question to any and all of you!

Welcome to LQ. Please understand that a description like "I can't get it to work" does not help us help you. Best start by listing the steps from the HOWTO, how you were able to implement them (config changes?) and any resulting (test?,) output or errors.

Saying "I can't get it to work" was actually about all I understood regarding the instructions in the article I referred to. I'm sure I can't be the only person who has been in this situation but for anyone in a similar situations as mine i.e. wanting their internet connection to stop should your VPN disconnect, I downloaded VUSE which has a setting that will do just that and best of all it works!
In the future I will try to offer more descriptive information regarding my problems which are a daily occurrence.
