"A start job is running for Hold until boot process finishes up" with thinkpad x230t

I installed Zorin on my thinkpad this morning and have been using it all day. I shut it down for a few minutes and when I turned it back on, it was stuck on the splash screen for nearly 45 minutes before I shut it off, ya know, the screen with the Zorin logo and everything before you log in. I googled it and everyone said to try ctrl+alt+f1 or +f2 for ubuntu so I gave it a shot, it gave me the "A start job is running for Hold until boot process finishes up (Xmin Xs/no limit)" message. I have been unable to do anything other than ctrl+alt+f1 or f2 and view that screen, but now it won't do anything when I press it, just stays at the splash screen until I shut it down.

I've never encountered this myself, but a web search for "A start job is running for Hold until boot process finishes up (Xmin Xs/no limit" will turn up a number of articles and forum threads about this error. Many of them refer to Ubunutu, but, as Zorin is based on Ubuntu, they should also be helpful.

I don't feel competent to pick one of the links. Rather, I think you should do the search and start with the one that seems most relevant to your situation.
