7.2 Netpkg can't connect to mirrors

I am running zenwalk 7.2 live. I am trying to refresh the mirrors using netpkg on the command line. I tried the gui but it just stayed at loading.

I have net connection as I am typing this post on zenwalk.

Code:
[root@zenwalk:liveuser]# Unable to connect to http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/zenwalk/i486/zenwalk-7.2/packages, please check the network or choose another mirror
bash: Unable: command not found
[root@zenwalk:liveuser]# netpkg http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/zenwalk/i486/current/zenwalk
Cleaning cache
Connecting to mirror
Unable to connect to http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/zenwalk/i486/zenwalk-7.2/packages, please check the network or choose another mirror
[root@zenwalk:liveuser]# netpkg http://restricted.meticul.eu/current
Cleaning cache
Connecting to mirror
Unable to connect to http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/zenwalk/i486/zenwalk-7.2/packages, please check the network or choose another mirror
How can I get the mirrors to refresh or find better mirrors?

I've had this problem as well. The solution made me feel pretty boneheaded.

In the Netpkg gui (xnetpkg), in the Packages menu, select the "Show extra packages" item.

I can't imagine why anybody would put this feature in a package manager in which one of the main features is accessing different repositories that may have packages not available in the main repository. I'll stop cussing in a couple hours.

Oh, looking at your use of netpkg, I see that you and I had different problems.

You tried this:

Code:
root[~]# netpkg http://restricted.meticul.eu/current
According to the netpkg help splash, the way to sync with a mirror is by way of the mirror command:

Code:
root[~]# netpkg mirror
Please choose a mirror :
1) http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/zenwalk/i486/current/zenwalk
2) http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/zenwalk/i486/current/extra
3) http://restricted.meticul.eu/current
4) ftp://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/zenwalk/i486/zenwalk-7.2/packages/extra/
5) ftp://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/zenwalk/i486/zenwalk-7.2/packages/zenwalk
#?
While if you have to add a mirror to the list, use the addmirror command:

Code:
root[~]# netpkg addmirror http://restricted.meticul.eu/current

Yeah I would select a mirror 1,2,3,4 as in netpkg mirror. But it failed. Not sure what the glitch was 7.2 looked good.

More recently, I have solved this issue by a new install, see this thread.
