Plus, they go into detail about everything about their system, making it a school for newbies to learn Linux. I've heard some people say they learned on VL, then went to Slackware. I installed Slackware first! Now, I'm going to put VL on another computer. Kind of backwards I guess! The Slackware people here are also very helpful and full of info that is usable. I don't get any RTFM if they don't really know the answer as I've experienced on some other forums.

I don't mind RTFM answers if the answer is clearly in the manual. But you are right, the slackers here are knowledgeable and friendly.

I was using Vector Linux first before I completely migrated to Slackware. I must say, version 6 was very stable and nice. Really nice introduction for users who are using Linux OS less then 1 year.

I slapped VectorLinux on an old laptop a couple years ago, and thought it was fantastic: lightweight, attractive, and complete with a friendly GUI for system maintenance type tasks. When the laptop retired, I stopped tinkering with Vector.

So little time, so many good OSes...

Because he is in the mood to ask for every little bit, instead of working it out for himself. You see, 1300 posts, and he is still not sure which distro to use (and how LQ works).

I think it's correct to say that not many "Vectorites" come here,...because there isn't too much to post about. Personally, I think Vector 6 Standard, is one sweet little Slackware-based distro! I still use it on some of my older machines.
