sep patitions for /home /usr/local???


can you have separate partitions with vector????

Sure.
Pretty easy.
Just edit your /etc/fstab , so these partitions are mounted at /home , /usr , etc....
Backup everything in those dirs to a separate dir (/tmp or /opt would be a good one) , clean the "old" dirs and then either reboot (arggggg...) or mount them from your filemanager or prompt.
Now the other partitions are mounted on the specified location and you can put the backed-up files back in place.

Doing this with /root is a little trickyer and I won't advise it ; too easy to blow your system to Kingdom Come that way.....(nothing irrevocable , but annoying and time-consuming nonetheless.)
