Installl of Vlinux4 on Compaq Armada 1580DT

Hi,
I'm going to install VL4 on a Compaq Armada 1580DT. It is impossible to boot the installation by the CD, some strange block. So I'm trying to install by a boot disk. Some one that have an idea how that should be done. I have tried to copy: bootide.img to floppy and boot the machine but it's not working. It gives a message saying: Non-system disk or disk error. Replace and strike any key when ready. Some ideas how to proceed?
Best regards /tungsten

I have it. To make a working boot disk (slack 9.1) I have to do:
cd /mnt/cdrom/disks
dd if=bootide.img of=/dev/fd0
When is the boot disk working, but very slow compared to cdrom installations.
