does Vector not work on AMD?

I read on its Distrowatch page that Vector Linux is Intel-based. Does that mean it wouldn't work on my AMD?

The AMD architecture is essentially an Intel one, so 32 bit distros like Vector Linux will work fine on an AMD machine.

It is a different matter when it comes to a 64 bit distro. But it is not unreasonable to run a 32 bit distro even on 64 bit hardware.

Vector Linux can also be run live from a CD if you just want to try it out.

For whatever reason, the terminology implies that Intel=32bits, AMD=64.

But as already stated by neonsignal, it should work fine.

Cheers

Intel designed a pure 64 bit processor, the Itanium, for servers. It didn't sell as well as they hoped, and so they licensed the x86_64 design from AMD. Unless the kernel and packages were build for the Itanium, you can install an x86_64 distro for either an Intel or AMD processor.
