Vector 4.0. How can I go back after installation and reset the resolution. I set it correctly during install but it appears to have defaulted to 640, BIG! VASM won't let me do it. /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 I edited. Took 640 out then I couldn't start X. Reinstalled the whole thing again and set to 800x600 and I'm right back where I started, 640 whatever, BIG. Down to that and the sound and is all done. I ran "damnsmall" and tried different settings and 800x600 by 32 bit looked the best. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the replies. I changed "HorizSync" to 30-107 as suggested but it didn't help. However, looking futher under "Section Screen" "Modes" are 640x480. Should I change this to 800x600?
I edited the way you indicated and it boots to "mynamelogin:Starting up X11 session Manager", and that's it, black screen. Same thing last time I edited it. Had to reinstall unless there's a command at boot that'll restore it.
as Kinasz states, it is a monitor thing now. Good news is, its working though. We know that you are in the right place and that it is reading your XF86Config-4 file correctly. get rid of the highest resolution and try again.
