xine - can't add more than one song file at a time

On my hoary box, xine (0.99.3) is the only app I have working, so far, that plays music. For some reason, I can't load a directory into the playlist... and then also have it still be there the next time I logon.

I can click on the little playlist button at the upper left of the gui. In there I click on add. I find my music directory and click on the Add button, but it just opens up the directory. It doesn't add any files to the playlist. So I try to select mulitple files or multiple directories there, but I can only open one directory and add one song file at a time. Click, add. Click, add. Click, add. etc...

If I right click on the gui, click on Playlist, Load, and then go to my Music directory and click on Load, nothing happens.

Maybe it's a permissions issue. Maybe I need to incoporate sudo in there somewhere?? (Maybe I need to put my life on hold again and read reems of documents and become a xine configuration guru... )

Any ideas?

Thanks...

That worked. Thanks.

I guess the thing is that I was trying to use the 'Playlist' option, when I should have used the 'Open/File' option first and then saved the Playlist for future loading.

Hi,
I didnt have a problem with this I just open the playlist then > add >browse to the directory select one song and then hit Ctrl+a to select them all then load them all then save them.

Dont know if I misunderstood your prolem ?

You could try Kaffeine, it uses the Xine Engine but has more controls than Gxine and I found it more user freindly although it does install the KDE base, I know some like to just have Gnome installed.
