Hi
I've been trying to get the 3D desktop effects working on KDE on K/Ubuntu 7.04 amd64, with an ATI Radeon Xpress 200M card.
Having read that the closed-source ATI drivers do not support AIGLX, only XGL, I followed the beryl-project wiki (Beryl with ATI cards using XGL) and the instructions at ubuntuguide.org. XGL installed fine, and I created the startxgl.sh and xgl.desktop scripts. I never got beryl to work properly (always got a white screen), but I tested the simple, compiz desktop effects on gnome using XGL, and they work perfectly.
However, when I try to have the desktop effects on KDE, I run into problems. Having changed the startxgl.sh script from "gnome-session" to "start-kde", when I change the window manager to compiz using beryl-manager, although for a brief moment the windows
do go wobbly, it fails and reverts back to kwin. I get the following error output in konsole:

Can anyone help me get XGL/compiz working with KDE?
Thanks
