Ubuntutu 22.10 no wifi showing up after starting it up the next day after an install

I installed 22.10 Studio only because I felt I needed to because I got a tablet that is only officially supported in Ubuntu. the table works in others as I have a multi boot on my laptop. I just don't get the ability to customize the buttons on it.

hence Ubuntu (studio)

today it is telling me no wifi as I a am sitting in Starbucks with wifi. I even checked it on my phone to be sure it was on. Then decided to reboot into my other distro (Slackware) lo and behold I have wifi. I just singed in the silly way Starbucks has one to via Firefox which is just click sign in to the network showing. so I did, rebooted into Ubuntutu and as I figured it now works.

so me being me, yeah this is something that should not be happening especially as Ubuntu is the De facto "Windows version" of Linux ( so maybe it should be happening).

nevertheless, does anyone know how to get it so I do not have to boot into some other distro just to sign onto the wifi so it will be seen so I can just sign in like any other distro I've used?

I have seen this before and it seems to be an issue with wpa-supplicant. Try restarting that service and see if the wifi can be found. May have to also restart the networking service.
Work arounds vary, I ended up using Wicked wifi manager instead of Network Manager, but it is a Python 2 app so breaks on Python 3 systems.

Booting into another OS is not needed, just a reboot will fix the error. But hopefully restarting the service works for you.
