Ubuntu Netbook Installation Crashes Before It Even Gets Started
I'm trying to install Ubuntu Netbook installation on my Netbook using a USB stick. I boot the system from the USB drive and the page loads then says, "The installer encountered an unrecoverable error. A desktop session will now be run so that you may investigate the problem or try installing again.
Then it loads a desktop with nothing on the screen except the mouse cursor and the background.

I've seen that before caused by the bootloader. Also you need to tell us: an old dual boot ? a fresh dual boot ? linux only ? prior linux on machine?
pls
Paul
The previous OS is Windows 7. No prior UNIX/Installation, I am also not doing a dual boot. I am reformatting the entire hard-drive.
So I bought a new USB stick thinking that was the problem and I re downloaded the Ubuntu-Netbook-10.10. I ran the USB Installer from the ubuntu link again on the new USB stick. Then I attempted the install again.
I got a little further this time, but no it crashed saying an error copying files. Due to either a bad CD/DVD or a bad hard drive. So I am currently testing my hard-drive to see if that is the problem.
I gave up on 10.10 netbook edition. I tried manually creating the ISO, it still crashed. I tried multiple times with different installers and nothing worked. So I finally decided to try 10.4 desktop version. This seems to work fine, it fits my needs so I will stick with it. But I'm a little disappointed I couldn't get the 10.10 netbook version working.
