From a brief Google search:
https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1243884

...which goes through a similar problem. Since you don't tell us what version of Ubuntu, post any relevant parts of your config, tell us what error(s)/message(s) you're seeing, or give ANY details other than "doesnt login", there isn't much we can tell you.

hi TBOne

I am using ubuntu 15.10 i installed libnss-ldap, libpam-ldap and nscd into the client pc. i could login with my ldap username and password but when i changed my ldap user password i was not able to login with the new password. Is there any way i can update my client pc whenever there are changes done in ldap server. I followed below link to install and configure ldap client. Is there anything i have to do in addition to that.

Did you actually bother READING the link I sent in my first reply??? The reply where I pointed out that they worked through the *EXACT* same problem on Ubuntu????

Unhappy

hi

is there any way i can hide my ldap.conf file from a standard user other than root in my ubuntu client system. I tried changing the permissions but then i was not able to login with my ldap users in ubuntu 15.10. I want to encrypt it so that accept the administrator nobody can see the ldap.conf text file which is containing the ldap server root password.

thanks

Read the LQ rules and "Question Guidelines" link in my posting signature. You need to open new threads for new question.

Short answer? No. In order to log in and get access to the resources, they obviously will have to read that file to see what they ARE, and to be able to authenticate.

Please note we are not on your "team"...we are not your co-workers, but volunteers that try to help people when we can. And you need to read the LQ Rules and "Question Guidelines" link in my posting signature. You have hijacked someone elses thread, re-opened a thread that had been closed for FOUR YEARS, and provided no information. Saying "can not login", tells us absolutely nothing.

Open your own thread for your own question, post relevant details, and we can try to help. Log file messages/screen messages, etc. We don't know anything about your setup, environment, or what you're seeing. Short answer: change your password back and see if that works.
