Can't you plug the headphones into the headphones connector on the computer, speaker or monitor (assuming that at least one of those has a headphone jack)

Thanks drunna; i can but it's not headphones i use, i use the same jack to connect to audio in my big tv and when i don't have my big tv on i have to switch on the Pulseaudio control hdmi output to the small monitor. Why I also use a small Monitor you may ask! cause the Big input DVI Tv cuts the edges of the Pic and i can't control the PC, i have to use an extra monitor for that.

sounds like you need to check you have install paprefs

I have only one card but when you run it, click on the tab simultaneous output check the box
and see if there are options to have both hdmi and analog etc

only if that did not work, you might need to reboot then try the solution found here
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php...ds_.2F_devices

also do a full reboot

and if that does not work then combine PA sinks as per
http://www.deseret-tech.com/journal/...aneous-output/

ok you did a full quote box so I am not sure which commands you were trying and so which section is too hard for you

so firstly I run a local user paprefs and show config tab options by taking a screenshot

I use mtpaint to edit the windowshot but use whatever if like, I also use tinypic.com

so this must be starting point.......can you confirm pls

if your image differs pls show us

http://oi44.tinypic.com/2n69og2.jpg

##################################

be aware there is a difference between swapping and 2 outputs at once.....your subject line mentions swapping only and

in your first post you appear to make no mention of wanting 2 outputs at once......its not to post 4 you appear to want both

##########################################

assuming you still want both outputs at once,
go back into pavucontrol and see if you have new options of 2 devices at once ??

----I can't as I have only one device.

####################################

see this image

http://i.stack.imgur.com/VbPFu.png

look at the option below the one highlighted?

it offers hdmi output and analog input.....but in pavucontrol you want to see hdmi and analog OUTPUTS

#########################################

so before you do next step take a screenshot (after reboot) of your pavucontrol tab

I use mtpaint
open pavucontrol to config tab....the extreme RH tab and open mtpaint

mtpaint actions
click on file
click on actions
click on time delayed screenshot
minimise mtpaint

inside pavucontrol click on pulldown
-----do not select and option just hover and wait (about 8 seconds)

mtpaint will take screenie which you can then edit as per below image

My image is deliberately wrong but proves only one sound device

http://oi41.tinypic.com/2zdraiq.jpg

###################################

I want to see your image pls

##############################

only after that FAILS do you create the .asoundrc file as per arch wiki link

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php...ds_.2F_devices

full reboot

recheck pavucontrol

test sound plays in both outputs

pls report and good luck
