sharing:unable to mount location


hi all
i have 2 systems one is ubuntu 10.10,another windows xp,both are connected on samelan
i installed samba in ubuntu 10.10
i want access sharing folder from ubuntu(one desktop) ,which is(sharing folder was ) in windowsxp(another desktop) and vice versa(reverse)

i click places>network,here 'windows network '
when i click this 'windows network ,2 folder are there like 'MSHOME','WORK GROUP'.

my windows xp system was (mycomputer>right click>computer nametab>here showing 'work group=MSHOME'
-----------------------------------------------------------
-ubuntu sharing folder - 'Documents on janau server (Samba, Ubuntu) (Janu)'.
- windows sharing folder-'janu '


when i click on windows-
start button>windows network palces>
here ubuntu sharing folder was appearing 'Documents on janau server (Samba, Ubuntu) (Janu)'

but in ubuntu when i click windows sharing folder(ie janu folder) giving follwing msg appearing on dialog box
"unable to mount location:failed to mount windows share"

can any give good solution for this
thanks in advance

Try running as the root. You can use 'sudo mount windows sambafile' to temporary mount the shared drive.

hi kuyalfinator
i tried 'sudo mount smb://janu-7e7a912070 (windows sambafile) to another folder( i created mkdir)

result:failed to resolve server smb:no address associated with hostnome

There is a hint right there "no address associate with hostname"

hi i forgot to tell one thing ,when i start sharing first ,one dialog box came in that next to sharing through tab option was like:NFS',but acutally it should come option next to sharing through button :SMB
because we are sharing via SMB,so how to enable/how to selce smb option

plz so have a look below link
