Random Cursor Movement on Ubuntu 9.04 using Compaq Presario V6000 Laptop

Hi All

I recently installed Ubuntu 9.04 on my Compaq Presario V6000 series laptop. Everything works perfectly except I get random cursor movement when I am typing long passages of text.

Suddenly after about 130-150 characters, my cursor will jump back a few lines and will continue typing in the new cursor location. It's driving me mad.

It's very similar to this issue, although I am using Gnome 2.26.1/Ubuntu.

I know it is definitely not me touching the touchpad accidently.
I'm still reasonably new to Linux and I'm not sure how to find out exactly what the specs are on the touchpad.

Hope someone can help.

Cheers.
