Question about installing kernel images
Hi all,
Is there a difference between using Synaptic to install new kernel images and just downloading the .deb file and using a "dpkg -i" to install them?
The reason I'm wondering is that it seems as though when I use Synaptic I don't get a choice to boot with the newly installed kernel at boot time with GRUB. With "dpkg -i" I can choose to boot with whichever I want. Maybe I'm doing somethging wrong with Synaptic.... Any ideas?
