Q about start up disk creator

Friends,

I have happily used the "start up disk creator" to make a bootable usb from an iso of a ubuntu os.

I recently "tried" to use start up disk creator to make a bootable disk from a very different iso.
That is a iso that is distributed by a hardware/software vendor for a specific piece of equipment. A TVU receiver.
So they offer an iso to reImage a reciever and the published docs say...
get the iso , make it bootable via rufus on windows.
With the end product being a usb that you can plug into a tvu reciever ( which runs ubuntu 20.04 - by the way...)
then power up and it boots to the usb launces clonezilla and you are off to the reimage process automatically

Well i tried but the disk creator app puked on the iso.
When I picked this "tvu" iso it failed to see it.

what do you think?
Does the disk creator work only for ubuntu os iso?

I think i was able to make my usb by using ddrescue . but it as yet untested.

Thanks
any wisdom is welcomed

I usually use dd, but you can cp the .iso to a pendrive too, & I believe you can also use cat.

I also tried unetbootin
I think I was successful

from reading on the stratup disk creator -- as i understand it -- the ubuntu startup disk creator tool IS only for ubuntu iso.
If you have a "diffrent" bundel of fun that is an iso with the potential of being a bootable usb.... then unetbootin is the choice.
