Now you have universe and multiverse repo installed, you'll find tons of games! Suggest "frozen bubble".

If you have 3D on that thar box of yours, then 3ddesk is good for blowing the tiney minds of those windows folk. (An alternative to the usual gnome workspace switcher - you click a panel launcher, the entire screen zooms out showing all your workspaces on a carousel in full detail. You rotate the carousel till you get the workspace you want, click and you zoom into it until it fills the screen. Best with more than 4 workspaces.)

Well THIS is crazy!!

I cant find universe or multiverse OR 3ddesk anywhere in synaptic!
(or is that where im suppose to be looking?)

When I ended up with this:

oot@Shop:/home/scott# sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

(gedit:14525): GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session manager:
Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed.
root@Shop:/home/scott# sudo apt-get update

Reading package lists... Done

Did THIS mean that all the above was installed? Or is there another process after sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list ?

By now you have the skills are resources to work most of this stuff out for yourself. Within all those repos is a solution for practically everything you should ever need.

rt-click on things and select "preferences" to fiddle with them.

BTW: I always suggest running a firewall - search my posts for "mad dog firewall" or "mdh firewall" for a nice simple one using iptables which is easy to understand and hard to breach.

I'm sorry - looking closely at the output of apt-get update you got: you do not have universe and multiverse enabled.

I DID IT!!!

It was My Fault!

After looking at the 'source.list' file closer, I realized that I needed to Delete all the Directions that came with the file.

AND, I needed to Delete the comments (#) on each of the lines containing addresses!

HA! This is great! I now have 'Limewire' AND 'Universe/Multiverse'!

Thanks So Much Simon!

There is somthing to be said for forcing the newbies to do their own Research!

Well, maybe I didnt have to delete the directions, but I definately had to delete the comments (#) next to the addresses to enable!
