Mounted drives doesn't appear

Hi!. I have made some modifications to /etc/fstab and now the mounted drives doesn't appear when I use the link to "Storage Devices" in the taskbar nor the programs that use it.
And when I try in Konqueror to go to media:/ only appears the floppy and the other drives mounted don't appear.
The drives are mounted because I can acces them in /media .
Well, thank you very much.
Regards

Could you give some more info?

Posting your new fstab and the specific changes you made to it might help...

Cheers!

I have the same issue. Under Storage Media I get absolutely nothing..not even the cdrom icons. I know the drives are mounted though. I primarily use GNOME, but I installed kubuntu-desktop just to see how well it's come along. Under GNOME all my drives appear and are functional. Under KDE I get nothing at all.

My fstab
# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
/dev/hda5 / ext3 defaults,errors=remount-ro 0 1
/dev/hda1 /media/hda1 ntfs umask=000 0 0
/dev/hda7 /media/hda7 ntfs umask=000 0 0
/dev/hdb1 /media/hdb1 vfat umask=000 0 0
/dev/hda6 none swap sw 0 0
/dev/hdc /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto 0 0
/dev/fd0 /media/floppy0 auto rw,user,noauto 0 0
awilisch@dauntless:/etc$

Honestly, I think it's a bug in the kubuntu desktop. this worked fine in version 5.04.

Hi demank,
Quote:

How are you trying to mount your partition?

I think that you probably have a problem with your fstab... The mount point where to mount the partition you want to mount is not defined, or most likely misdefined in the /etc/fstab file.

Check to see if you have a line like the following:

Code:
/dev/hda1 /media/hda1 ntfs umask=000 0 0
This would be if your partition hda1 is NTFS, if not change the "ntfs" for "vfat" if it's fat32, or whatever... Also check that the directory where hda1 is meant to be mounted (in this case, /media/hda1) exists, otherwise create it with mkdir.

Hope it helps.

ah., i try your step., @belga., then i found that my partitioin is swap.., this is the eror file

/dev/hda5 looks like swapspace - not mounted
mount: you must specify the filesystem type

maybe i take a wrong way in the beginning of installation of ubuntu, so my partition drive change to swapspace..
then., can my partition drive back to normal again? back to file system?

I was searching on the Internet, and I have found that it is an error of KDE.
I have installed Ubuntu and everything is working fine.
A few days ago, there where some upgradable packages for KDE, KDEbase and others, so I've installed then, but nothing was fixed, so I will keep on searching.
Other problem that I have is that when I lock the session, then, when I want to unlock it, I can't do that, It denies me pass. I know that I'm inserting the correct password. It occurs in Gnome and in KDE.

Searching more, I have found a solution that was proposed in a forum.
If you uncomment the last line of /etc/default/hal you will can see all that is mounted in storage media.
Regards.
