Hi guys: i have ubuntu12.04LTS and i have Intel integrated hd VGA and
DVI outputs and I'd like to get on VGA monitor 1024x768 and on DVI output 1920x1080 resolutions at same time, is there anyway i can have separate resolution besides the Mirror display resolutions?thanks and have an Happy New Year.

last i used ubuntu, you could get to a screen resolution window under preferences i believe, then inside that window you could uncheck mirror display and then arrange the monitors how you like.

Of course thats if you are using gnome and not that new unity interface thing. I guess youd have to search for it if your using that. But with ubuntu, you should be able to do this through the gui. Just got to find it.

Thanks nd7rmn8;ok i can cofigure the displays either way with mirror or separate resolution, but when i put on the VGA led tv 1024x768 i can't see the desktop applets on the left and top and bottom taskbar all the controls, on the Sony display it's ok on 1920x1080 sinse it's always was this way, it cuts the edges so i never could control the pc from the Sony tv screen, that's a problem that can't be fix since these tvs were not supposed to be connected to PC's, i can live with that but i don't understand why i loose some of the controls and applets!
See pic.

you may ask why i want it with lower resolution on VGA because i want to get a graffic card with DVI hdm VGA and Svideo that would fit in my Linovo thinkCenter71e 3167 that has an
Integrated Graphics Adapter (Intel HD Graphics 2000)
to be able to send video Through Svideo to a RF converter to the other tvs in other rooms.

Do you suggest a card with (DVI hdm VGA and Svideo output)that fits in the lenovo pc see bellow specs ,thanks in advance

When you're running the 1024x768, does the keyboard combination ctrl+alt+(number pad minus) bring the desktop applets and other things into view?

Ok i've rebooted the PC and now the Coby tv monitor gets the 1024x768 full screen but the sony only gets blue screen with no desktop pic when i untick mirror's box, when i tick the mirror's box i get 1920x1080 automatically on both displays,i think it has to do with timing,
it's like when i forget to turn on the led coby monitor when i turn on the pc i get black screen,i have to reboot again in order to get desktop screen after i turn the monitor prior to the PC.
I also tried the lenovo original monitor that came with the PC Tower and tried to configure the resolution without mirror 1024x768 coby monitor and Sony TV 1920x1080 but it would change but as soon as i tried to keep this configuration it wouldn't change and go right to mirror 1920x1080 automatically without me ticking the mirror box, i think i'll let it be thanks anyway.
