Hello, I just installed Xubuntu 12.04 LTS and I'm having some problems getting LIRC to work the same as it did on my previous Xubuntu 8.04 installation.
First problem first... The init.d script doesn't launch the daemon correctly. I have no idea what the problems specifically is, but if launched from the script LIRC doesn't accept any input or control Mplayer. If however I run "/usr/sbin/lircd" from the command prompt it starts working.
But the catch is still that it's not working like it use to on 8.04... It seems that I have to have the Mplayer window in focus for LIRC to send any remote input to it, which totally defeats the purpose for me.
I don't really know where to start working this out... For one thing, if I can't control a window that doesn't have focus then there's no point in continuing. Is there something else with LIRC I need to configure to make this possible?
If I can get that working then I guess just making my own RC script would be pretty simple...
Help?
Edit:
Okay I managed to find someone with a similar-ish problem and edited my /etc/lirc/hardware.conf file. I changed the these settings to the following
Code:
REMOTE_MODULES="false"
...
LOAD_MODULES="lirc_dev lirc_mceusb"
Now it works when launching from the init script, but I still have no control of mplayer when the window is unfocused.
