I remember early 6.06 install cd doing integrity check at boot. Later cd (maybe) and DVDs didn't default to checking.
I found that not disabling quiet and splash at the boot screen allows option displayed CTRL+c to skip checking. This was not the case up to 20.04 download beta of 2/2/2020.
Don't know when I developed a habit of disabling quiet/splash from the boot. Not seen much that helped, except few and far between, found things I'd fixed. Don't even remember what those have been.
Anyway the case being I have USB live boot with persistence that boots without checking (2/2/2020 beta ubuntu studio). Latest tries with later downloads have made USB that defaults to integrity checking.
I've since re-done the USB reverting to 2/2/2020 beta download.
My real question, which will be answered tomorrow is: 'Will the official release of Ubuntu Studio 20.04 still have integrity-check by default'? I can wait and see but anyone know the answer?
Thanks, and in response to Business_Kid, the drive that I burned it on is Memorex Dual layer external USB circa 2005.

Reason: In answer to 2nd response's statement
I doubt it. Integrity checks are 99.99% passed, so there's no point in checking. If they give a checksum, do it that way. It wasn't that way for old drives, where burning over 1x got you into risky territory. Things have moved on.
Thanks for structuring the text; it really makes it easier to comprehend.
I just had a quick search, it seems Ubuntu live medium integrity checks are a thing of the past.
Can't speak for actually burnt CD/DVD though, must be years since I last did that.
quick post about needed added boot line of nomodeset to prevent gui jagged distortion at desktop , also in case not noted anywhere the file checking can only be canceled from splash screen.

I don't remember discussing that and it's usually a bad idea. If I try that, the mode won't change, and I can't start X. Many video drivers won't function with that. Needing 'nomodeset' usually means your video card & it's driver are not on speaking terms.
I can't start X at all with nomodeset here, as X pukes.
sorry, off subject comment. without nomodeset when boot arrives at X this ubuntu studio is so garbled to be unusable. don't know why this boot option works. It's also needed when installing but installs with lower resolution X than run time which seems normal and in my thinking should not work, just as you comment.
thanks
