Does ubuntu support ntfs so i can make ntfs partitions?

It can read and write to NTFS partitions out of the box. You should be able to create NTFS partitions easily with gparted.

Now how much space it needs... well, it depends what you want to do with it and how much space you have available obviously. My installation is now taking 3,2GB + swap and I only installed Wine and a few codecs to play music and flightgear (which should be like 400mb I think) to test 3D performance and my brand new logitech joystick (which worked out of the box as well). Interesting enough, my Xbox 360 Wired Controller also works out of the box. So far, very impressed.

Regards!

You can do that even without installing Ubuntu (with the LiveCD). Writing to NTFS partitions is not a big thing as it was used to be a while back =).

Basically, Ubuntu will identify your NTFS partitions and you will see them all under "Places" on the top menu. Clicking on that partition will mount it (you will be asked by your password) and you will have full read/write permissions to NTFS partitions that way.

Gparted is a tool used to create/resize partitions (included, but not limited to NTFS).

You can start reading about gparted here:
