HP Deskjet 3070A Scanning Problem Solved. Ubuntu 10.04
First things First,You must have installed Xsane Image Scanner.
Then it is a matter of Updating HPLIP you must be running 3.12.6 the latest update for the Scanner part to work.
If you use your browser to go HP Website it will check what you are running now and if the Printer Drivers needed to be updated, believe me they do...
They will then direct you to hplipopensource.com Then go to Download HPLIP and go through the Installation Wizard.
Remember to select Deskjet All in One.
The Model to Select is DESKJET 3070b611 Series.
It will then tell you that Ubuntu 10.04 comes with HPLIP 3.10.2 as standard.
Click Next to Download.
Once you have Downloaded the hplip-3.12.6.tar.gz to the Desktop, that is the easiest,
Then it is time to use the Terminal.
Click on open the Icon and let it Run in the Terminal, it will go through a series of Questions for you to answer, but most important it will show you the Dependencies that are missing.
It will update all that is required, when you get to the end it will ask you to turn on the printer and pull the usb plug, do this and it will reset, there is NO NEED to Restart...
Put the usb plug back in and it will tell you to hit return.
If all is successful and it will be, you will get a HP Screen showing the printer has been recognized, just follow the prompts till the end.
You will then get a HP Status Service Icon Installed, which includes Toner levels etc.
Forget the Small screen on the Printer it still will say Scanning Software not Installed.
Don't worry, Just click on Xsane and you are ready to Scan.
