How to use ActivePerl in Ubuntu?

Hello,
I just downloaded the program activeperl from the official website it was a .deb package and when I downloaded it recognized it as a file that needed to be installed (using a thing called Gdebi package installer) and it appears to have installed it without any problems.

Now that the program is installed I would like to know how do I access it and use it to run a perl script for it?

Please tell me how do to this because I am a total newbie at doing this.

thanks,

why use it at all? what's wrong with just using the perl instance already on your system?? you don't *need* it to write perl code

thanks,
that is exactly what I did I used the native perl already installed. This is the first time I ever attempted this so I was in the dark.

I just typed: perl ./nameofscript.pl****

*** stands for the code that follows.
